SEO – Search Engine Optimization
Most people have heard the term SEO or Search Engine Optimization, but what does this mean for a business?
When looking at SEO from a marketing standpoint it means more traffic for your marketing budget. Having your business show up organically not only increases your traffic substantially, but can also mean savings for your online marketing budget because instead of paying directly for each click-through you are paying for the search engine optimization work to be handled for your website, business listings, or blog.
Since web 2.0 there has been a lot of development in both the SEO and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) arena. A website is ranked based on many factors including content, meta tags and information, links to that page or site, backlinks and much more.
It is important to know that major search engines now look at both SEO and SEM simultaneously for the naturally ranking or SEO and SEM and Pay Per Click. These influence each other for the following reasons:
Google and now other search engines are also following suit that when one of their “clients” is searching for products, services, or just a general search term they find quickly what they are looking for. Because of this SEO and content matter in that, it is matched with the user’s search, and hence the user is directed to your site. If Google deems that the user found what they were looking for it was a good transaction, and hence the site will continue to rank higher. If the user has a bad experience or bounces from the site; the search engine deems this as a bad transaction and drops the page rank for that particular page.
Search engine marketing also plays a role. Most engines are now increasing rank based on marketing budget and other benefits that are seen through SEM. We recommend doing a hybrid of both campaigns as they both have big benefits for any business. Statistics have stated that more than 70% of people now look online for reviews and additional information before making a purchasing decision it is crucial that you are found.
